Overview
It is essential that the services and facilities provided in our parks and green spaces are accessible to all. With limited resources to manage, maintain and develop them it is equally important that site managers plan accordingly to avoid costly mistakes. The main focus of the course will be to provide participants with a practical toolkit to enable them to be able to produce a site-specific access plan which will address the relevant issues.
Objectives
Participants will be able to:
• Understand the barriers to access;
• Consider the relevant local policies and national legislative framework;
• Identify relevant stakeholders within the local community to gain feedback from;
• Undertake an access audit of their site;
• Identify recommendations to develop an action plan;
• Gain the skills to develop a site-specific access plan
Target Audience
Anyone who is responsible for access to green spaces and wants a practical toolkit to plan improvements to their site and those involved in HLF Parks for People application bids.
